Abstract

Variations in physical properties of some of the common heavy liquids used in mineral separation and specific gravity determinations are given in table and graphical form. The liquids studied are bromoform, Clerici's solution, Thoulet's solution, and Klein's solution. The paper discusses variation of specific weight with temperature; changes in specific weight of mixtures with changes in the concentration of their components; changes in specific weight of mixture in the course of time; variation of viscosity as a function of temperature; and relationship between specific weight and viscosity.
