Abstract

Certain previous studies (i, 2, 3, 4, 5), together with the writers' clinical observations, have suggested the possibility of a relation between functional articulatory disorders and confusion in the bilateral aspects of neuromuscular organization. The study reported in this article was carried out in the Psychological and Speech Clinic and the Iowa Child Welfare Research Station of the University of Iowa' for the purpose of investigating certain laterality characteristics of severe functional articulatory cases and comparing these with the same characteristics in normally speaking children.
