Abstract

Fatigue crack growth behavior of a series of aluminum alloy under single overload tests, repeated overload tests and a variable amplitude loading spectrum are analyzed. It is shown that the material behavior is governed by micro-mechanisms. For crack initiation at a notch, a short crack model presented here gives acceptable results.
