Abstract

Cerebral Dural Sinuses and Their Tributaries is a monograph that deals with the embryology and anatomy of the human dural sinuses and their variations. A summary of the oncology of the dural sinuses is included in the first chapter; the remaining 13 chapters deal with specific intracranial and extracranial venous systems. The anatomy of each system is discussed, based on a study of 950 cadaver dissections and latex injections. Each of the venous systems is discussed at some length, and some clinically important variations are described. The authors have unfortunately omitted precise statistics that would be desirable in an exhaustive, anatomical study. The exact incidence of variations and relationships of these venous sinuses to surrounding landmarks was not stated. Although the neurologic surgeon would benefit from this extensive study, it would be of little aid to the surgical otorhinolaryngologist in that the anatomy of the dural sinuses around the temporal
