Abstract

Cerebral blood flow (CBF) undergoes a decline with aging, the magnitude of which is a function of health status. Reductions in CBF are correlated with intellectual deterioration and are paralleled by decreases in cerebral metabolic rate. The present paper describes these CBF changes, both in normal senescence and in the dementias of old age.KeywordsCerebral Blood FlowMean Arterial Blood PressureRegional Cerebral Blood FlowCerebral Metabolic RateCerebral Blood Flow ChangeThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
