Abstract

Radiofrequency coils are an essential magnetic resonance imaging hardware component. They directly impact the spatial and temporal resolution, sensitivity, and uniformity in the MRI. Advances in radiofrequency equipment have led to the creation of many designs that are optimised for specific clinical applications. Here, the potential of ceramic resonators is investigated to replace radiofrequency surface coils. Three structures were compared: a ceramic resonator, a loop size comparable to the size of a ceramic resonator, and a loop whose size was smaller than the size of a ceramic resonator.
