Abstract

A new species of maerid Amphipoda, Ceradocus adangensis, collected from the coral reef at Adang Island in the Andaman Sea, is described. C. adangensis is characterized by its male large gnathopod 2 palm oblique with a subrectangular distomedial elevation with 5 robust setae, deeply cleft telson, telsonic lobes separated, each lobe with 4 apical robust setae and telsonic lobes not reaching halfway along the longest spine. The new species is compared with related species.
