Abstract
Vibration-based gearbox fault diagnosis is widely used by the researchers. The main setback of vibration-based signal is that it contains structure borne noise, which degrades the gear related information. Therefore, instantaneous angular speed (IAS) signal has been utilized to identify gearbox fault as it contains less structure borne noise. When defect exists, the IAS signal exhibits modulation characteristics. Therefore, cepstrum analysis has been used on IAS signal to separate out the modulating signals. Thus, fault in multistage helical gearbox has been detected.
