Abstract
The development of high-efficiency and low-cost electrocatalysts for electrolyzed splitting water to release oxygen has attracted widespread attention. In this work, the n-n heterostructure CeO2/NiFe-LDH electrocatalysts were synthesized through a simple hydrothermal reaction process. The heterostructure and morphology of feature were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope and studied for OER catalyst activity. The fabricated CeO2/NiFe-LDH exhibited excellent OER activity with a low overpotential of 246 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm−2, a small Tafel slope of 65 mV dec−1, and good stability, due to the positively charged n-type semiconductor promoting the adsorption of OH−, and the synergy effect of CeO2 and NiFe-LDH for the OER activity. This work provided a general strategy for designing simple synthesis of heterostructure OER electrocatalysts.
