Abstract

The mean lifetimes of the 316 and 612 keV levels in 192Pt were measured by means of a new variation of the centroid-shift method. The technique uses a triple coincidence among a β-particle and two γ-rays. Values obtained for the lifetimes are τ(316) = 61.7 ± 2.1 and τ(612) = 38.2 ± 2.2psec. The effect of these results on the analysis of the g-factors for these two states is discussed.
