Abstract
In rats anesthetized with urethane, intracerebroventricular injections of 50 ng to 25 ug of 5-HT creatinine sulfate produced a rise in arterial blood pressure and a biphasic change in heart rate. These responses were abolished by prior transsection of the spinal cord at Cl. The rise in blood pressure was almost completely blocked by prior intracerebroventricular injection of BOL but the changes in heart rate were affected to a lesser extent. This pattern of response is different from those previously reported as occurring in the cat.
