Abstract

WE are frequently stressing, in our columns, the importance of automatic lubricating systems for all types of machines. Automatic systems have their advantages, whether they be applied to sewing machines or modern high‐powered steam turbines. We firmly believe that a sound system of mechanical lubrication is more reliable and provides greater machine efficiency than any manual system of grease guns and oil cans. We know that there are some exceptions, principally in the case of cheap machines which only have to have a short length of useful life and machines employing only one or two lubricating points. But we consider that automatic lubrication is not applied as often as it should be and that valuable time is thereby wasted.
