Centenary Meeting of the British Association: Programmes of Sections

Abstract

SECTION A (MATHEMATICAL AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES). A CENTENARY meeting in London necessarily envisages a programme which differs in many details from the programme of a provincial meeting. The occasion is one for a certain amount of stocktaking, and nothing could more clearly demonstrate the remarkable progress of the physical sciences during the period that has elapsed since the jubilee meeting than a comparison of the topics that interest the Section to-day with those of half a century ago. The Section anticipates a specially large gathering of guests from foreign lands and from the overseas dominions, and the programme naturally reflects in some measure the interests of a number of these distinguished visitors.
