Abstract

On the basis of recent vertical photographic coverage at 1:25,000 the known areas of celtic fields in Himmerland, Denmark can be augmented by many new occurrences. A map which shows the extent of old fields in Himmerland is presented along with four illustrative examples derived from the vertical photography. The recognition of the overall extensiveness of this ancient cultivation pattern and of specific locations is possible from this standard coverage when interpreted by the techniques of air archaeology.
