Abstract

Recently, we have reported the solvent versatility and enantiomeric resolution performance of an immobilized amylose derivative-based chiral stationary phase (CSP), CHIRALPAK ® IA. The second member in the same series of immobilized CSPs is CHIRALPAK ® IB. This new CSP is prepared by immobilizing the chiral selector (the 3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate derivative of cellulose) onto a 5 μm spherical porous silica. The aim of this work is to obtain an insight into the chromatographic performance in enantiomeric separation of this new CSP. In addition, we will explore and exploit its enantioselective ability with “non-standard” solvents in the mobile phase. Fundamental information regarding the selection of mobile phases and additives for efficient method development is presented. The CSP stability under “non-standard” mobile phase conditions is demonstrated.
