Abstract

The article discusses cellular communication. Topics include the multiple modes of information exchange cells use, such as hormone signals, research of the gap junction assembly process in cells, which contain thousands of cell communication channels, by the author and his colleagues, a type of connexin protein called Cx43, and genetic evidence found in the 1990s that connexins can participate in disease, such as the developmental disease oculodentodigital dysplasia (ODDD).
