Abstract

β-endorphin was localized in the cytoplasm of most cells of the intermediate lobe and discrete cells of the anterior lobe of the rat pituitary. The cells of the posterior lobe were negative. Various regions of the rat brain including some ependymal cells of the third ventricle and discrete cells of the choroid plexus also displayed a granular reaction product. The distribution of the granules in the neurons appeared over the cell bodies whereas other positive cells displayed an intense reaction product in the cytoplasm.
