Abstract

Temperature is a significant indicator for biological research as thermal energy transfer is closely related to biochemical reactions. Many researchers have reported in cell temperature detection based on calorimeter, however it is still under continuous improvement due to the complex intracellular environment. These calorimeters can be classified based on its principle, and non luminescent thermometers attract attentions due to their high performance. This review focus on non luminescent thermometers, and summarize recent researches in cell temperature sensing based on non-fluorescent signals. And we also introduce its several types, applications, thermal isolation technology, and design details, the possible future perspectives are also proposed. • Focusing on non-fluorescent thermometers for cell temperature detection. • According to different principles, the non-fluorescent thermometers are classified as thermocouples, thermistors, PN diodes and microcantilevers. • The thermal insulation methods, calorimeter configurations and applications are also summarized.
