Abstract

Oligonucleotide (ON)-ZIF-8 with and without nanoparticles has been investigated for gene therapy for three gene therapeutic agents (plasmid, splice correction oligonucleotides (SCO), and small interfering RNA (siRNA)) were investigated. The materials were characterized using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, Zeta potential, and FT-IR. The materials are cell biocompatible with very low cytotoxicity. They showed high cell transfection of plasmid, SCO and siRNA. ZIF-8 enhance transfection of the investigated CPPs with 8 folds.
