Abstract

Cell mappings for multi-degree-of-freedom-systems are not done on a routine basis because of large memory and computing time demands. In this paper two methods are described in order to deal with these problems. Firstly, one has to reduce the number of cells by introducing an adaptive cell refinement technique. Secondly, the use of parallel computers or workstation clusters can greatly reduce the wall clock time for the computations. Both methods can be combined easily.
