Abstract

DNA synthesis in the liver acinus of 4- to 5-week-old male rats has a peak value in the hepatocyte nuclei of Zone I as judged by [ 3H]thymidine labeling. The labeled nuclei move in the direction of the THV during the following 150 days. DNA synthesis can be highly depressed by a bacon diet. DNA synthesis can be switched on in these animals by a normal standard diet within 2 or 3 days.
