Abstract

We have shown that cultures prepared from spleens of neonatally thymectomized mice are deficient in their ability to produce cells which lyse sheep RBC. This deficiency can be largely eliminated by addition of irradiated nonattached cells prepared from normal spleen. These findings may indicate that the nonattached fraction contains two components necessary for the development of plaque-forming cells against sheep RBC. The possible roles of these components are discussed.
