Abstract
Today's consumer electronics (CE) market is dependent on communications technologies. Similarly, the growth in global communications is driven by the CE sector to a large extent, as today's CE serves as platforms for data consumption in different forms. Information and communications technologies (ICTs) also play an important role in the collection and creation of data in electronic form, as they facilitate data processing for communication and reception. CE and ICTs together contribute significantly to the international gross domestic product (GDP). In this article, we review the main CE-driven trends of global communications.
