Abstract

Content Delivery Network as a Service (CDNaaS) is an ”on-demand CDN software” accessing by end users using web browsers. Current networking and softwarization techniques give more flexibility in the deployment and the migration of virtual CDN. Further, a multi-criteria decision making technique TOPSIS is introduced to include the context of vCDN migration. TOPSIS as a decision analysis method is used to select the optimal layer for deploying our vCDN among three alternatives; PoPs, Home Gateway/STBs or User devices. Moreover, a CDNaaS workflow that clarifies the integration of TOPSIS as dynamic plug-in that selects the migration area is presented. This can reduce the running time of vCDN optimization algorithms and their execution periodicity. Finally, a brief comparison between vCDN, the traditional CDN (physical) is elaborated.
