Abstract

Content Delivery Network (CDN) has achieved great success in the past decades and serves a large portion of Internet traffic nowadays. However, due to the different architectures of fixed network and mobile network, there is a large gap in terms of CDN resources (servers and contents) between traditional CDN and mobile CDN, and the user experience in mobile network is usually worse. Therefore, convergence of traditional CDN and mobile CDN ensuring a uniform and consistent user experience is needed. In this work, two specific schemes for CDN convergence based on Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) are proposed and procedures of the schemes are discussed in detail. In addition, the challenges for CDN convergence are presented as the guidelines for future work.
