Abstract

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies 10 evidence‐based opioid overdose prevention strategies that the text says “states and municipalities can take today to prevent new overdoses tomorrow.” In including on the list items such as Good Samaritan bystander laws and syringe exchange programs, and in suggesting that initiatives should meet opioid‐affected individuals where they are on the continuum of change, the tone of the report indicates a clear embracing of harm reduction as a critical component of overdose prevention.
