Abstract
Zanoni etal. (2017) show that the LPS receptor CD14 promotes internalization of oxidized phospholipids, a hallmark of dying cells, triggering hyperactivation of dendritic cells and macrophages. Their findings reveal CD14 as a regulator of responses to infection and damage, relaying context-dependent signals that determine inflammatory cell fate decisions.
