CCUS(Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) 부문의 국민경제적 파급효과 분석

Abstract

CCUS(Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) is one of major methods to reduce greenhouse gas emission by Korean government. The government plans to invest and foster CCUS technology and industry through recently published national roadmap and strategy. Although CCUS is importance measure in Korean government’s Basic roadmap for Achieving the National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Target, quantitative analysis such as market size, economic effects of CCUS industry has not been analysed in many research. Finally, this study try to analyze the economic effects of CCUS using 2019 input-output table published by Bank of Korea. The major results of this study are summarized as follows. First, production or investment in CCUS sector induces KRW 2.1510 of production and 0.8945 won of value-added. Moreover, the wage-inducing effect is estimated to be 0.4373 won, respectively. Second, production shortage cost from one won of supply failure in CCUS sector is calculated to be 1.4071 won, which is not small. Third, the impact of the 10% increase in CCUS on the general price level is computed to be 0.0186%, which is small. This information can be utilized in forecasting the economic effects of CCUS sector.
