Abstract

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is an emissions reduction technology that can be applied to all fuel sources for energy production (gas, coal and biofuel). In addition, it is the only available option to reduce emissions from industrial processes. It has enormous potential for global impact by capturing more than 90% of CO2 and other emissions from power plants and industry. It is recognised by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as a critical tool in the move to a low‐emission future.
