Abstract

Transverse excitation simplifies the cavity dumping of a CO2 laser. An experimental method of cavity dumping a transversely excited system is reported. In the presence of helium the cavity-dumped pulses have a peak power of 120 kW, and in its absence the peak power reduces to 80 kW.
