Of the 690 postneonatal deaths of infants with birth weights of 2,500 g or greater, 59.1% were caused by SIDS. The corresponding SIDS percentages of postneonatal deaths of infants with birth weights of 1,500 to 2,499 g and less than 1,500 g were 48.3% and 27.8%, respectively. (The Bader's data appear to be in conflict with pronouncements by many SIDS researchers, viz, that infants of higher birth weights are at less
