Abstract

Among the fundamental principles of local quantum field theory, the causality principle plays an important part. The careful analysis of the causality principle made by Bogolyubov enabled him to prove fundamental theorems on the analyticity of the amplitudes of physical processes and on this basis give a rigorous derivation of dispersion relations. We wish to show how allowance for the causal and spectral properties of local quantum field theory enable one to carry out the single-time reduction of the Bethe-Salpeter wave equation.
