Abstract
Six rats received lesions involving the head of the caudate nucleus, the corpus callosum and the deeper layers of the frontal neocortex, and seven rats served as sham operated controls. Postoperatively the animals were mated and their behavior was observed for the first six days postpartum. Although the experimental Ss were more active, they showed no impairment in maternal behavior.
