Abstract
A suitable characterisation of Cauchy filters in a uniform space inspires the definition of a Cauchy prefilter in a fuzzy uniform space. This is shown to be a good extension of the standard notion and the theory of Cauchy prefilters in a fuzzy uniform space is developed.
