Abstract

Polytetramethylene ether (PTME) was chemically anchored to the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) by cationic polymerization of tetrahydrofuran starting from the carbonyl chloride group-functionalized MWNT with silver perchlorate as a catalyst. The PTME-functionalized MWNT showed unusual glass transition kinetics determined by DSC, i.e. T g occurred at lower temperatures at faster heating process.
