Abstract

The cation-exchange characteristics of 20 elements towards the strongly acidic cation-exchange resin Dowex 50 × 8 in media containing varying concentrations of formic acid and mixtures of formic acid with aqueous dioxan were investigated. Possible separations are indicated and discussed. Bismuth may be quantitatively separated from copper.
