Abstract
Thin-film electrochemical sensors are reported that are based on cation-sensitive redox-active molecules such as in the Figure (new TTF-crown derivatives with R = C(O)O(CH2)nSH or CH2SH) immobilized on a metal surface. The synthesis of the molecules and the self-assembly of the monolayers are outlined. The electrochemical recognition properties in solution and as monolayers in the presence of different metal cations are described.
