Abstract

This article argues that the concept of servant-leadership has been appropriated by secular writings and secular projects. There is a need to reconstruct it in a Catholic and religious framework which places Jesus Christ at the centre of a model of Catholic servant-leadership in education. As well as providing a theoretical reorientation of servant-leadership in education, this paper reports the results of doctoral research into the theory and practice of servant-leadership in a sample of schools in Thailand under the jurisdiction of the Sisters of St Paul of Chartres. Recommendations for improving formation for the servant-leadership role in Catholic schools are made.
