Abstract

Sulfur-carbon composite (S/C) as cathode material for lithium-sulfur batteries (Li-S) was prepared by using carbon fibres prepared by electrospinning. Sulfur dissolved in CS2 solution was dropped to the carbon fibres. The sulfur-carbon based composite material is currently investigated due to the solution of scientific problems of Li-S batteries. The problems are nonconductivity of sulfur, the formation of intermediates during discharge processes, volume increase of sulfur and shuttle effect of polysulfides. Electrochemical testing was carried out by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge. For the surface and structure analysis, the scanning electron microscopy was used.
