Catena-Poly[[silver(I)-μ-1,4-di-4-pyridyl-2,3-diazabuta-1,3-diene] methanesulfonate

Abstract

The asymmetric unit in the polymeric title compound, {[Ag(C12H10N4)]CH3SO3}n, comprises two Ag atoms, a 4-pyridine­aldazine mol­ecule in a general position, two 4-pyridine­aldazine mol­ecules each disposed about a centre of inversion, and two methane­sulfonate anions. The Ag atoms are in linear geometries within N2 donor sets. The topology of the polymer is linear and the strands are connected into double chains via weak argentophilic Ag⋯Ag [3.2088 (10) Å] inter­actions that stack along the b axis inter­spersed by the methane­sulfonate anions. These layers are consolidated in the crystal structure primarily via weak Ag⋯O contacts (Ag⋯O > 2.69 Å).
