Abstract

Radioactive materials from the power plant conceptual study (PPCS) models A–D were studied for waste disposal acceptance after 50 and 100 years of cooling based on radioactive waste disposal requirements in Germany, France, Spain and Sweden. The materials were divided into different categories according to a classification system for clearance and recycling possibilities of fusion waste: non active waste to be cleared (NAW), simple recycle material (SRM), complex recycle material (CRM) and permanent disposal waste, not recyclable (PDW). The possibilities for disposal of material belonging to the different categories were studied in order to illustrate the options in the case clearance or recycling should be unpractical. Detritiation was assumed for components with high tritium content.
