Abstract

This chapter will provide an account of the key performance improvements mentioned by participants to have resulted from the transfer of resources between work and family domains. Of great importance to the reader, for the majority of these categories, some of the performance improvements were noted by participants to have occurred in their work roles, and others, to have manifested in their family roles. This statement holds for five of the seven categories presented. The categories are thus presented as themes of performance improvement that can be expected from occupying both work and family roles. There are three exceptions to this rule, which emerged naturally in the data; three categories of performance improvement in the family domain were uniquely noted to have originated in participants’ work role.KeywordsPerformance ImprovementEmotional IntelligenceWork RoleCritical IncidentFamily DomainThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
