Abstract

‘Categorial grammar’ refers to approaches to grammar in which expressions are classified according to their completeness or incompleteness. Deductive approaches to categorial grammar are those in which the grammaticality of an expression is reduced to logical validity. We review deductive approaches to categorial grammar, looking at categorical calculus, sequent calculus, natural deduction, and proof nets.
