Abstract

The Morbinning Gully Catchment is located in an area of predominantly yellow duplex soils. The catchment forms part of the Alcoa Landcare program and is the site of the East Beverley Research Annex on which a considerable part of the research reported in this special issue has been conducted. This paper describes the catchment planning and management that is being undertaken by farmers in the catchment in order to reduce land degradation. The principles underlying catchment planning, the various management options being undertaken and the monitoring of water levels in the catchment are all elaborated.
