Abstract

1. Catalytic activity was found for decationized forms of dealuminized Y zeolites obtained by the extraction of aluminum from NaY using EDTA and subsequent exchange of sodium cations by ammonium ions and heat treatment in the oxidative dehydrogenation of isoamylenes to give isoprene. 2. The protic activity of faujasites decreases with increasing SiO2/Al2O3 ratio, while the reaction rate and selectivity for the conversion of methylbutenes to isoprene increase. 3. The role of oxidative condensation products (OCP) in the catalysis of oxidative dehydration of isoamylenes of HNaY was discussed. Zeolites display catalytic activity in this reaction even in the absence of OCP.
