Abstract

An analysis schedule for the determination of total iodine in biological materials has been developed. The reaction on which the determination is based is the known catalytic action of iodide on the redox system cerium(IV)-arsenic(III). The dry digestion of the sample, carried out in a nickel crucible, and its preparation are described. The relative standard deviation of the results obtained using the suggested schedule is not more than 2% for amounts up to 60 ng. The analysis schedule was tested for the determination of iodine in various biological materials.
