Abstract

A research project was carried out with the aim to design, construct and test a sintered metal reactor using the catalytic combustion of methane. A mathematical model predicting the heat conductivity and permeability of sintered metal from its basic properties was also developed. The process performance was improved by combining heat transfer and chemical reaction. A better temperature tuning in the reactor was possible and the emission of CO and NO, was prevented.
