Abstract
Abstract Poly-s-isobutyl-ethylenimine was synthesized and with it asymmetric synthesis of benzaldehyde cyanohydrin was carried out with good results: P% is 20%. This is ascribable to (1) the steric effect of the isobutyl group adjacent to the amino group in the polymer, (2) the stereo-regularity of the polymer, and presence of an asymmetric center and functional group in the main chain of the polymer, and (3) the spiral structure, if it exists, of the polymer enhancing its stereoregularity effect.
