Abstract
Palladium(0) complexes with tertiary phosphine ligands catalyze the carbonylative cyclization of 3-butenoic acid to give methylsuccinic anhydride and glutaric anhydride. Reaction of 3-butenoic acid with an equimolar amount of Pd(CH 2 =CHPh)(PMe 3 ) 2 gives palladium-containing cyclic esters that are considered as the reaction intermediates in the above catalytic carbonylation
