Abstract

The process of making high-precision shapes includes the production of a shaped startin~ piece, sharpening, heat treatment, preparation of the surface of the metal for sizing, and sizing (drawing or cold rolling). Different combinations of operations and one or several processing cycles are chosen, depending on the complexity, shape, and dimensions of the cross section, on the size of the lot, and on the possibilities of the equipment. Speaking particularly of the specialized shop at the Omutninsk Metallurgical Plant, several variants of production schedules may be used simultaneously within a given complexity class.
